A new crime film has entered production at Apocalypse Films entitled Bluesman.
Upon release from prison, the illiterate hitman known as Bluesman (Lee Mason), receives a mysterious letter that might hold the key to a new future – if only he could read. Thematically, the film explores the impossible hurdles faced by those fringe-dwellers abandoned by society and the educational system.
Presented in glorious monochrome, the stylish thriller nods to the great tradition of the cinematic assassins as seen in the films of Jean-Pierre Melville and Sergio Leone.
Bluesman will be the third feature-film collaboration between Apocalypse Films writer/director Andrew O’Keefe and actor Lee Mason after their successful release of Crime & Punishment.
